CARBON FOOTPRINT SL

Our goal

As part of the Erasmus+ project, we were divided into thematic groups. Our group - My/Ours/Yours carbon footprint - started researching carbon footprint sources and obtaining information about the operation of our school.

What is carbon footprint?

The term carbon footprint is used to illustrate the amount of emitted CO2 and other greenhouse gases gases (the main ones are H2O (water vapor), CH4 (methane), N2O, O3 (ozone)) for which individuals or companies or organizations are responsible.

We have identified 5 main sources of carbon footprint:
  1. electricity consumption,
  2. heating of sanitary water and premises,
  3. food consumption,
  4. choice of transportation to school,
  5. additional trips and excursions.

Of course, it is also necessary to consider the size of the school - the number of employees and students - because otherwise comparisons between schools are not possible.

Why it is important to talk about the carbon footprint these days?

Carbon dioxide and other previously mentioned gases have a greenhouse effect in the atmosphere.

How does greenhouse effect work?
